Humanoid Robot Demonstration Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice explains how Cognite AS and Aker Property (together, “the Joint Controllers”) process personal data collected during the operation of humanoid robotic platforms. This notice is provided via the high-visibility QR code displayed on the unit to ensure transparency in shared human spaces.

1. Purpose of Processing

The robot is deployed for the purpose of demonstrating robotics at events, conferences, or for prospective customers. Processing is limited to necessary business purposes and conducted in accordance with specific instructions.

2. Types of Data Collected

The unit utilizes various sensors to navigate and interact safely, which may capture:

  • Video and image feeds from onboard cameras.
  • Sound and heat signatures required for environmental mapping and human detection.
  • Persistent records of all autonomous activities and sensor telemetry.

3. Privacy by Design & Redaction

To protect your identity, the following controls are active:

  • As a default, robotic systems are configured to avoid the retention of any Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
  • In instances where data must be retained for mission logging or forensic replay, systems automatically redact or blur faces and PII.
  • Data is transmitted over a dedicated, isolated Wi-Fi network with no routing to the wider internet or corporate intranets to prevent unauthorized leakage.
  • Data is retained only as long as necessary for forensic replay to investigate safety near-misses or anomalies.

4. Safety & Interaction Rules

For your physical safety and the integrity of the unit, please observe the following:

  • All persons must maintain a distance of at least 2 meters (approximately 6.5 feet) from the unit at all times.
  • The robot will provide visual or auditory signals (e.g., lights or voice announcements) before changing velocity or starting a task.
  • The proximity of minors is prohibited. Reasonable effort should be made by both Cognite and Aker Property Group, as well as the audience to keep children away from the robot.

5. Your Rights

As this deployment involves the processing of data in public or semi-public spaces, you have rights regarding your personal data under applicable privacy laws. Because data is redacted at the edge, we generally do not store identifiable images of visitors.
