TOKYO, September 17, 2026 — Cognite today announced that the Cognite Industrial AI and Data Platform has been selected as the integrated data platform for the hydro power business in the "Next Generation Hydro Reborn Project" promoted by The Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc.
Hydroelectric power generation in Japan began commercial operation at the Keage Power Station in 1891. For over 130 years, it has supported Japanese industry and society through the stable supply of clean energy. To pass this hydroelectric legacy to the next generation and achieve a zero-carbon society by 2050, Kansai Electric Power is actively advancing the "Next Generation Hydro Reborn".
In this project, Kansai Electric Power adopted Cognite as an integrated data platform to centrally utilize data scattered across the organization, aiming to accelerate decision-making, boost productivity, and promote data utilization.
Through the centralization and contextualization of data in Cognite, the construction of a data-driven, sustainable hydroelectric operational structure is expected in the future, including real-time understanding of field conditions, promotion of flexible work styles, visualization of equipment and related information in 3D space, and the transfer of expert know-how linked with advanced technologies such as AI.
