Each quarter, we like to feature a Cognite partner making a difference across industry. Learn more about our collaboration with Capgemini!
Cognite: We’ve been thrilled to call Capgemini a partner for nearly 4 years. Tell us a bit more about the Capgemini model and where you are focused?
At Capgemini, our focus is helping organizations transform operations through the convergence of engineering, operational technology (OT), data, AI, and business transformation. We combine deep industry expertise with global scale, enabling clients to move from strategy through to implementation and long-term operations. Our primary focus is on asset-intensive industries where operational excellence and industrial data are critical to business performance, including Life Sciences, Energy & Utilities, Manufacturing, Chemicals, Aerospace & Defense, and Transportation.
Across these sectors, we're helping clients establish connected, contextualized data foundations that unlock greater efficiency, resilience, sustainability, and innovation. What differentiates Capgemini is our ability to bring together industry specialists, data engineers, AI experts, IT/OT architects, and change practitioners into a single delivery model, helping organizations not only deploy technology, but realize measurable business outcomes at enterprise scale.
Cognite: With so much change happening right now with industrial AI, how is Capgemini uniquely positioned to bring more value to these markets?
Industrial AI promises tremendous value but success depends on more than algorithms. It requires trusted data, deep domain expertise, robust governance, and the ability to operationalize AI across complex industrial environments. Capgemini sits at the intersection of these capabilities. We bring decades of engineering and operational experience, combined with leading expertise in cloud, data, AI, and enterprise transformation. This allows us to help clients move beyond isolated pilots and create industrial AI solutions that are scalable, secure, governed, and embedded into day-to-day operations.
Our partnership with Cognite is particularly powerful because Cognite Data Fusion provides the contextualized industrial data foundation needed to make AI practical. Together, we help clients transform fragmented data into trusted intelligence, accelerating the deployment of predictive, autonomous, and agentic AI use cases that deliver tangible business value.
Cognite: It’s already been a busy year with you as partners, what successes are worth highlighting right now? What have you learned from our joint customers?
One of the most exciting developments has been the growing recognition across industries that industrial data foundations are no longer optional, they are essential for AI success. Together, Capgemini and Cognite have supported organizations across life sciences, energy and manufacturing in creating contextualized industrial data environments that enable faster decision-making, improved asset performance, reduced operational risk and accelerated deployment of AI use cases.
A key lesson from our customers is that the greatest value comes when technology initiatives are linked directly to business outcomes. Clients are increasingly focused on scaling proven use cases across multiple sites rather than delivering one-off pilots. They want trusted data, reusable architectures, and measurable returns, and that's exactly where the Capgemini and Cognite partnership excels. We've also seen customers increasingly prioritizing industrial knowledge graphs and contextualization as critical enablers for future autonomous and agentic operations.
Cognite: What has been valuable about our joint partnership in driving the success for these customers?
The partnership works because it combines complementary strengths. Cognite brings a market-leading industrial data and AI platform designed specifically for complex operational environments. Capgemini brings extensive industry knowledge, transformation expertise, global delivery capability, and experience integrating operational and enterprise ecosystems. Together, we provide customers with an end-to-end approach, from business strategy and use case definition through data contextualization, platform implementation, AI enablement, governance, change management, and managed services.
This combination helps organizations accelerate time-to-value while reducing implementation risk. Perhaps most importantly, we share a common vision: helping industrial organizations create trusted, contextualized, AI-ready data foundations that support long-term transformation rather than short-term experimentation.
Cognite: What other advice do you have on approaching complex AI transformation projects? What lessons were learned?
The biggest lesson is that AI transformation should always start with business value, not technology. The organizations achieving the greatest success begin by identifying specific operational challenges where better insights, automation, or decision support can create measurable impact. From there, they invest in building a trusted and governed data foundation that can scale across the enterprise.
Another key insight is that industrial AI is fundamentally a people and process transformation as much as a technology initiative. Success requires close collaboration between operations, engineering, IT, data teams, and business stakeholders.
Finally, don't underestimate the importance of contextualization. Many organizations already possess enormous volumes of data, but without context, that data remains difficult to use. Creating a connected digital thread and industrial knowledge graph is often the critical step that unlocks the true value of AI and enables future autonomous operations.
Cognite: What’s next, and what are you looking forward to?
We're entering an incredibly exciting phase for industrial AI. Over the next few years, we expect organizations to move beyond dashboards and analytics toward AI-powered decision intelligence, industrial copilots, autonomous operations, and agentic AI systems that can proactively support and optimize industrial processes. We believe trusted industrial data will be the foundation for this transformation, and that's why we're excited about continuing to deepen our collaboration with Cognite.
Together, we're helping clients build the connected, contextualized, and AI-ready environments needed to realize the next generation of industrial innovation. We're particularly excited about helping customers scale AI safely and responsibly across global operations, turning years of industrial data into real operational advantage and sustainable business outcomes.
